A very close game took place in Surgut between Universitet-Yugra and Ural Ekaterinburg. Eleventh ranked Universitet-Yugra (11-13) got a very close home victory over higher ranked Ural Ekaterinburg (13-11). Universitet-Yugra managed to escape with a 1-point win 92-91 on Wednesday evening. Universitet-Yugra made 22-of-24 free shots (91.7 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Serbian Nikola Lepojevic (195-82, agency: Alti Sport) notched 40 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds (on 13-of-16 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and Vitaliy Ionov (201-86, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) supported him with 12 points and 9 rebounds. Even 19 points and 5 assists by American point guard Stephen Brown (180-96, college: Bucknell) did not help to save the game for Ural Ekaterinburg. His fellow American import guard Mandell Thomas (188-93, college: Fordham) added 21 points for the guests. Four Ural Ekaterinburg players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Universitet-Yugra moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Khimky-Podmos. Loser Ural Ekaterinburg dropped to the sixth position with 11 games lost. They share it with Burevestnik. Universitet-Yugra will meet higher ranked Temp (#3) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Ural Ekaterinburg's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Ekaterinburg to the arena Uralmash.
