Very expected game when 11th ranked Cornella (6-11) was defeated at home by fourth ranked Esparreguera (12-5) 81-77 on Sunday. Strangely Cornella outrebounded Esparreguera 41-29 including 28 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was forward Ruben Morales (193-85) who scored 19 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Forward Dani Fontanals (197-93) chipped in 12 points. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Xavi Guirao (190-87) who recorded 16 points and 8 rebounds and naturalized Andorra guard Roger Lliteras (194-96) added 20 points respectively. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Esparreguera. They moved-up to third place in Group C-A, which they share with Igualada. Loser Cornella keeps the eleventh position with 11 games lost. Esparreguera will face Salou (#7) at home in the next round. Cornella will play against Boet (#8) and hope to win that game.
