Rather predictable result when fifth ranked Herford (15-6) won against on the road 9th ranked Hagen-Haspe (9-12) 89-79 on Saturday. Herford made 28-of-36 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Hagen-Haspe turnovers. Strangely Hagen-Haspe outrebounded Herford 45-33 including 31 on the defensive glass. Hagen-Haspe was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for American guard Sam Cassell-Jr (193-92, college: Iona) who helped to win the game recording 23 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals. Forward Jan Brinkmann (201-91) contributed with 22 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Four Herford players scored in double figures. American guard Daniel McGee (188, college: Purdue NW) replied with 18 points and forward Oscar Luchterhandt (195-91) added 12 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Hagen-Haspe. Hagen-Haspe's coach let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Herford have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place in West, which they share with Hagen BG. Loser Hagen-Haspe dropped to the eighth position with 12 games lost.
