Regular Season Round 42: Ehime OV - Kumamoto V. 99-110

There was no surprise in Matsuyama where 4th ranked Orange Vikings (17-26) were defeated by second ranked Kumamoto V. (31-12) 110-99 on Saturday. Kumamoto V. looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. The best player for the winners was Dutch-Australian power forward Josh Duinker (209-89, college: Richmond) who had a double-double by scoring 40 points (!!!), 19 rebounds and 4 assists. American forward Chehales Tapscott (195-90, college: Portland St.) chipped in 29 points. Kumamoto V.'s coach Takayuki Yasuda used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the other side the best for losing team was American power forward Cory Johnson (202-88, college: Valparaiso) who recorded 30 points and 9 rebounds and his fellow American import power forward Andrew Fitzgerald (202-90, college: Oklahoma) added 25 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Kumamoto V. have a solid three-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Shimane SM. Orange Vikings lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with 26 games lost. Kumamoto V. will have a break next round. Orange Vikings will play again at home against the league's leader Kumamoto V. (#1) and hope to win that game.
