Very important is a home loss of second ranked Spurs (33-28) against fifth ranked Knicks (12-48) on Sunday night. Host Spurs were defeated by Knicks in San Antonio 130-118. Knicks players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. They brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Dennis Smith-Jr (190-97, college: NC State) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points, 6 rebounds and 13 assists and guard Damyean Dotson (196-94, college: Houston) who added 27 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side swingman DeMar DeRozan (201-89, college: USC) responded with 32 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Bryn Forbes (190-93, college: Michigan St.) scored 15 points and 6 rebounds. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Knicks maintains fifth position with 12-48 record. Spurs at the other side keep the second place with 28 games lost. They share the position with LA Clippers. Knicks will have a break next day, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Spurs will play on the road against Nets in Brooklyn and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
