There was a small surprise when sixth ranked Martorell (10-9) beat at home 3rd placed Esparreguera (13-6) 82-72 on Saturday. Martorell made 26-of-34 free shots (76.5 percent) during the game. Esparreguera was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for power forward Jordi Pujolreu (-96) who led his team to a victory scoring 15 points and 7 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Point guard Albert Valle (181-92) helped adding 12 points and 5 assists. Forward Ruben Morales (193-85) responded with 14 points and 6 rebounds and forward Dani Fontanals (197-93) scored 14 points. Four Esparreguera players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Martorell maintains sixth place in Group C-A with 10-9 record, which they share with Olivar and Salou. Newly promoted Esparreguera dropped to the fourth position with six games lost. Martorell will face Cornella (#11) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Esparreguera will play against Mataro Feimat (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
