An interesting game was played in Bangkok where host Thailand Mono Vampire (#8) won against 5th ranked Vietnamese Saigon Heat 89-83 on Wednesday evening. Mono Vampire forced 24 Saigon Heat turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Mono Vampire made 10 blocks. It was a great evening for American forward Michael Singletary (198-88, college: Texas Tech) who led his team to a victory with a triple-double by scoring 17 points, 11 rebounds, 11 assists and 7 steals. American-North Macedonian Romeo Travis (198-84, college: Akron) helped adding 21 points, 9 rebounds and 9 assists. Singletary is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Mono Vampire's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American center Kyle Barone (203-89, college: Idaho) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 16 rebounds and American-Puerto Rican point guard TreVon Hughes (185-87, college: Wisconsin) scored 20 points, 7 rebounds, 8 assists and 5 steals. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Mono Vampire maintains eighth place with 8-14 record. Loser Saigon Heat keeps the fifth position with 11 games lost. Mono Vampire will meet higher ranked Macau (#7) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Saigon Heat will play against CLS Knights in Surabaya and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
