Regular Season Round 21: Marousi - Ippokratis 81-79

A very close game took place in Athens between Marousi and Ippokratis. Fourteenth ranked Marousi (7-14) got a very close home victory over higher ranked Ippokratis (12-9). Marousi managed to escape with a 2-point win 81-79 on Wednesday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. Point guard Orfeas Stasinos (183-98) stepped up and scored 21 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners and swingman Chris Likogiannis (198-84) chipped in 17 points and 9 rebounds. The best for the losing side was swingman Ioannis Chatzinikolas (196-95) with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!) and forward Antonis Asimakopoulos (203-76) scored 15 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Marousi maintains fourteenth place with 7-14 record. Newly promoted Ippokratis keeps the fifth position with nine games lost. Marousi will meet bottom-ranked Ethnikos (#16) in the next round. Ippokratis will play against Evropi (#11) and hope to secure a win.
