Regular Season Round 25: CSKA - AX Armani 101-95

Rather predictable result when third ranked Russian CSKA (19-6) won against 6th ranked Italian Armani Milano (13-12) in Moscow 101-95. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Armani Milano won fourth quarter 29-25. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. CSKA made 20-of-24 charity shots (83.3 percent) during the game. CSKA outrebounded Armani Milano 36-21 including 17 on the offensive glass. It was a great shooting night for CSKA especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.9 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Armani Milano was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Liberian-American center Othello Hunter (203-86, college: Ohio St., agency: David Lee Services) stepped up and scored 19 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and American Will Clyburn (201-90, college: Iowa St.) chipped in 16 points and 7 rebounds. At the losing side American point guard Mike James (185-90, college: Lamar) responded with 13 points and 7 assists and Serbian Vladimir Micov (201-85, agency: BeoBasket) scored 16 points. Four CSKA and five Armani Milano players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. CSKA have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. Defending Russian champion moved-up to second place, which they share with Real Madrid. Defending Italian champion Armani Milano keeps the sixth position with 12 games lost. They share it with Olympiacos and Baskonia. CSKA will play against Panathinaikos (#10) in Athens in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Armani Milano will play at home against Olympiacos (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
