Regular Season Round 21: Ionikos Nikaias - Kavala 129-68

Leader Ionikos Nikaias delivered the nineteenth win on Saturday night. This time they crushed 15th ranked Kavala (6-15) 129-68. Ionikos Nikaias well out of reach of Kavala shooting 70.4 percent from the field. They outrebounded Kavala 40-13 including a 30-10 advantage in defensive rebounds. Ionikos Nikaias shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 58.3 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 37 assists comparing to just 16 passes made by Kavala's players. The best player for the winners was point guard Fotis Vasilopoulos (187-86) who had a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 14 assists (perfect behind the arc making all six shots !!!). The former international center Loukas Mavrokefalidis (207-84) chipped in 14 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was swingman Nikos Houhoumis (188-96) who recorded 15 points and 4 assists and naturalized Nigerian guard Etinosa Erevbenagie (186-95) added 12 points respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Ionikos Nikaias (19-2) have an impressive series of fifteen victories in a row. Newly promoted Ionikos Nikaias maintains first place. Kavala at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the fifteenth position with 15 games lost. Ionikos Nikaias are looking forward to face Koroivos (#12) on the road in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Kavala will play against Ermis Agias and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
