Second Stage Round 6: Pardubice - GBA Sparta 79-80

The most exciting game of round 6 in the 1Liga took place in Pardubice. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of 3rd ranked Pardubice (12-12) to first ranked GBA Sparta (14-10) 80-79 on Thursday evening. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when GBA Sparta made 7 blocks. 27 personal fouls committed by Pardubice helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for forward David Pekarek (201-96, college: Fordham) who saved his team from a defeat with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 11 rebounds. British-American forward Sacha Killeya-Jones (211-98, college: NC State) contributed with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Forward Michal Svoboda (190-99) replied with 30 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Josef Potocek (196-96) added 12 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Pardubice. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. GBA Sparta maintains first position in Places 7-12 with 14-10 record. Pardubice at the other side keeps the third place with 12 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
