Everything went according to plan when sixth ranked Herford (16-7) edged on the road 10th ranked Deutzer (7-16) 106-103 on Saturday. Herford looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. Deutzer was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Lithuanian forward Vaidotas Volkus (203-85, college: Redlands CC) fired a double-double by scoring 25 points, 17 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. British forward Elliott Sentance (193-94, college: Lethbridge) chipped in 23 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists. Forward Philipp Pfeifer (196-97) produced a double-double by scoring 24 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists and Florian Schulz (196) added 21 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Deutzer's coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game.
