A very close game took place in Weissenfels between Mitteldeutscher BC and Giessen 46ers. Seventeenth ranked Mitteldeutscher BC (5-19) got a very close home victory over higher ranked Giessen 46ers (11-14). Mitteldeutscher BC managed to escape with a 3-point win 86-83 on Tuesday evening. Mitteldeutscher BC's coach Silvano Poropat allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. At the losing side American center John Bryant (211-87, college: Santa Clara) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds and the other American import forward Larry Gordon (196-87, college: Cal Poly Pomona) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds. Four Mitteldeutscher BC and five Giessen 46ers players scored in double figures. Mitteldeutscher BC moved-up to sixteenth place. Giessen 46ers lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the twelfth position with 14 games lost. Mitteldeutscher BC will meet higher ranked Telekom Baskets (#6) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Giessen 46ers will play against Crailsheim Merlins (#15) and hope to secure a win.
