Ashdod snatched a narrow home win over Ramat Hen in the opener. Ashdod made 20-of-25 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. American point guard Chelsea Hopkins (173-90, college: San Diego St.) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners and her fellow American import center Danielle Adams (185-89, college: Texas A&M) chipped in 19 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists (made all of her nine free throws !!!). At the losing side Kenyan-Canadian power forward Adut Bulgak (193-92, college: Florida St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds and American swingman Alex Harden (180-93, college: Wichita St.) scored 11 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures.
