Regular Season Round 24: Diagoras D. - Charilaos TM 98-107

There was a minor upset in Athens where one of their biggest challengers Diagoras D. (14-10) was defeated by sixth ranked Charilaos TM (13-11) 107-98. Charilaos TM made 34-of-36 charity shots (94.4 percent) during the game, while Diagoras D. only scored eighteen points from the stripe. It was a great shooting night for Charilaos TM especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 73.3 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. 27 personal fouls committed by Diagoras D. helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The winners were led by Serbian center Stefan Djordjevic (206-89) who scored that evening 30 points and 6 rebounds (went 12 for 12 at the free throw line !!!) and point guard Efstathios Papadionysiou (189-92) supported him with 23 points. Even a double-double of 23 points and 12 assists by point guard Giorgos Koukas (180-85) did not help to save the game for Diagoras D.. Forward Petros Noeas (204-87) added 18 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Charilaos TM moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 4 other teams. Diagoras D. at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the fourth position with ten games lost. Charilaos TM's next round opponent will be Amyntas Dafnis (#8) in Athens. Diagoras D. will play on the road against the league's leader Ionikos Nikaias (#1) and hope to win that game.
