The game between closely ranked teams ended with 6th ranked Rapid's (10-17) road loss to fifth ranked Miercurea Ciuc (12-15) 80-82 on Saturday. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Miercurea Ciuc dominated down low during the game scoring 34 of its points in the paint compared to Rapid's 14. It was a good game for American power forward Andre Pierce (207, college: Lee JC) who led his team to a victory with 28 points and 8 rebounds. Swingman Djordje Simeunovic (201-96) contributed with 26 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. American guard Mikey Hope (186, college: Adams St.) answered with 44 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds and Croatian Goran Kragulj added 8 points and 4 assists in the effort for Rapid. Newly promoted Miercurea Ciuc maintains fifth place with 12-15 record. Rapid lost fifth consecutive game. Rapid at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the sixth position with 17 games lost. Miercurea Ciuc will face higher ranked Focsani (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Rapid will play against Targu Jiu and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
