There was a small surprise in Bucuresti where sixth ranked Rapid (11-17) beat 4th ranked Targu Jiu (13-15) 85-73 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 10-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 85-73. American guard Mikey Hope (186, college: Adams St.) had a double-double by scoring 25 points, 15 rebounds and 7 assists to lead the charge for the winners and center Andrei Gheorghe (200-96) chipped in 15 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Rapid's coach Victor Bulancea used an eleven-player rotation saving starting five for next games. At the losing side point guard Razvan Bratoloveanu (185-92) responded with 21 points and American guard Joseph Howell (188-87, college: Cent.Methodist) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Newly promoted Rapid maintains sixth position with 11-17 record. Targu Jiu at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the fourth place with 15 games lost.
