There was no surprise in Istanbul where 16th ranked Edirne (2-25) was crushed by seventh ranked Sigortam.net ITU (16-11) 119-87 on Friday. Sigortam.net ITU looked well-organized offensively handing out 33 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international swingman Cenk Akyol (198-87, agency: BeoBasket) who scored 47 points (!!!) and 4 assists. American forward Jerome Frink (201-93, college: LIU Brooklyn) chipped in a triple-double by scoring 12 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists. Sigortam.net ITU's coach Andac Yapicier felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was Oguzhan Yarol (195-98) who recorded a triple-double by scoring 11 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists and center Okan Ozpamir (205-86, agency: 1x1 Sports) added 21 points and 6 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) respectively. Five Sigortam.net ITU and four Edirne players scored in double figures. Sigortam.net ITU moved-up to sixth place. Edirne lost their twentieth game in a row. Newly promoted team stay dead last with 25 lost games. Sigortam.net ITU will face Konyaspor (#7) on the road in the next round. Edirne will play against Yeni Mamak (#8) and hope to win that game.
