There was no surprise when 8th ranked Timberwolves (12-22) were crushed on the road by third ranked Gmunden Swans (24-10) 81-61. The game was mostly controlled by Gmunden Swans. Timberwolves was better in third quarter 16-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Gmunden Swans dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Timberwolves' 32. Gmunden Swans had a 29-17 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Timberwolves' players. American guard Chance Murray (190-95, college: UC Riverside) notched 13 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists to lead the effort and Matthias Linortner (193-97) supported him with 17 points and 6 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Even 19 points and 6 rebounds by Bosnian forward Nemanja Nikolic (202-89) did not help to save the game for Timberwolves. American-Italian swingman Joe Scott (192-88, college: St.Thomas) added 15 points for lost side. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Gmunden Swans maintains third position with 24-10 record behind leader Kapfenberg. Timberwolves lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keep the eighth place with 22 games lost. Gmunden Swans' next round opponent will be league's second-placed Gunners Oberwart on the road and it will be for sure the game of the week. Timberwolves will play against Raiffeisen Flyers Wels (#5) and hope to win that game.
