Kauhajoki beat Seagulls for 1-0 lead. The game was mostly controlled by Kauhajoki. Helsinki Seagulls was better in second period 21-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Helsinki Seagulls 45-32 including a 36-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a very good performance for American Greg Mangano (208-89, college: Yale, agency: Octagon Europe) who helped to win the game recording 18 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. His fellow American import swingman Rene Rougeau (198-86, college: UNLV, agency: Blacktop Management) contributed with 18 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Four Kauhajoki players scored in double figures. The former international point guard Alex Vaenerberg (183-92) answered with 16 points and 4 assists and American swingman Alex Ruoff (198-86, college: WVU, agency: Inception Sports) added 8 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Helsinki Seagulls. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
