Fubon Braves stormed past Yulon Luxgen in the opener. Fubon Braves forced 19 Yulon Luxgen turnovers and outrebounded them 43-32 including 17 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. 24 personal fouls committed by Yulon Luxgen helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a very good performance for the former international swingman Wen-Cheng Tsai (190-85) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds. American forward Tony Mitchell (203-92, college: N.Texas) contributed with 19 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Four Fubon Braves players scored in double figures. American power forward Walter Sharpe (206-86, college: UAB) answered with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 19 rebounds and the other American import forward Emanuel Jones (200-85, college: UTRGV) added 13 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Yulon Luxgen. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest.
