Regular Season Round 30: Giessen 46ers - Jena 89-83
Date: April 27, 2019
Not a big story in a game when 18th ranked Science City Jena (5-25) was defeated on the road by twelfth ranked Giessen 46ers (13-17) 89-83 on Saturday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Giessen 46ers looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American point guard Jared Jordan (187-84, college: Marist) had a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 assists to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import center John Bryant (211-87, college: Santa Clara) chipped in 12 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. Four Giessen 46ers players scored in double figures. Giessen 46ers' coach Ingo Freyer used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was Dominican-American forward Ronald Roberts (203-91, college: St.Joseph's, agency: Pensack Sports) with 15 points and 7 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) and American forward Derrick Allen (201-80, college: Ole Miss) scored 12 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Giessen 46ers maintains twelfth position with 13-17 record, which they share with Fraport SKY. Science City Jena lost eleventh consecutive game. They stay dead last with 25 lost games. Giessen 46ers will face league's second-placed EWE Baskets in Oldenburg in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Science City Jena will play at home against ALBA Berlin (#3) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
