There was a small surprise when eighth ranked Plasencia (14-18) defeated at home 6th ranked Menorca (17-15) 95-80 on Saturday. Menorca was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was Mario Alvarez (196-91) who scored 26 points and 7 rebounds. Point guard Jose Medina (185-93) chipped in 22 points. Power forward Andreu Matali (204-81) produced 18 points and 7 rebounds and center Jan Orfila (207-86) added 14 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Plasencia maintains eighth position in Silver with 14-18 record. Newly promoted Menorca keeps the sixth place with 15 games lost. Plasencia will face higher ranked Albacete (#5) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
