Quarter-Finals Round 2: Ryukyu GK - Nagoya DD 77-53
Date: April 28, 2019
Ryukyu bruised Nagoya to even the series at 1-1. Ryukyu GK made 16-of-17 free shots (94.1 percent) during the game. Ryukyu GK outrebounded Diamond Dolphins 41-20 including a 32-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. The former international swingman Takatoshi Furukawa (190-87) notched 26 points and 5 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and American forward Jeff Ayres (206-87, college: ASU) supported him with 15 points and 9 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). Furukawa is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Even 15 points by American forward Justin Burrell (207-88, college: St.John's) did not help to save the game for Diamond Dolphins. His fellow American import center Hilton Armstrong (210-84, college: Connecticut) added 10 points for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
