Regular Season Round 33: Juventus - Prienu Skycop 89-90

The most exciting game of round 33 in the LKL took place in Utena. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of 6th ranked Juventus (14-20) to eighth ranked Prienu Skycop (12-20) 90-89 on Sunday evening. The guests trailed by 10 points at the halftime before their 31-13 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Prienu Skycop made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. 24 personal fouls committed by Juventus helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was the former international guard Zygimantas Janavicius (192-89, agency: Interperformances) who scored 23 points and 6 assists. The former international center Darjus Lavrinovic (212-79) chipped in 19 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Prienu Skycop's coach Virginijus Seskus used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was Gytis Radzevicius (195-95) who recorded 13 points and 7 rebounds and international center Martinas Geben (208-94, college: Notre Dame) added 10 points, 9 rebounds and 4 blocks respectively. Four Juventus players scored in double figures. Prienu Skycop moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Dzukija. Juventus at the other side keeps the sixth position with 20 games lost. Prienu Skycop is looking forward to face league's second-placed Neptunas in Klaipeda in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Juventus will play on the road against the league's leader Zalgiris (#1) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
