Fubon Braves toppled Taiwan Beer to gain the opening victory in SBL Finals. Fubon Braves outrebounded Taiwan Beer 48-36 including 34 on the defensive glass. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Fubon Braves made 7 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of Costa Rican-Belizean forward Charles Garcia (208-88, college: Seattle) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 27 points and 12 rebounds. American forward Tony Mitchell (203-92, college: N.Texas) contributed with a double-double by scoring 10 points, 12 rebounds and 5 blocks for the winners. Four Fubon Braves players scored in double figures. Ukrainian power forward Igor Zaytsev (210-89) answered with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 15 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 blocks and international point guard Yu-An Chang (174-91) added 17 points and 4 assists in the effort for Taiwan Beer. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game.
