There was a surprise result when fourteenth ranked Eltham Wildcats (2-5) smashed on the road higher ranked Dandenong Rangers (4-3) 104-85 on Saturday. Eltham Wildcats had a 31-20 advantage in offensive rebounds. The former international forward Geremy McKay (201-96, college: Vanguard) fired a double-double by scoring 26 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists (on 11-of-12 shooting from the field) for the winners. Point guard Adam Doyle (176-91) chipped in 27 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Eltham Wildcats players scored in double figures. Keli Leaupepe (187-0) produced a double-double by scoring 29 points and 13 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) and point guard Lucas Barker (183-93, college: Indianapolis) added 18 points and 6 assists respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Despite that victory Eltham Wildcats went down to seventeenth position (League) due to points difference. Loser Dandenong Rangers dropped to the sixth place with three games lost. Eltham Wildcats will face league's second-placed Ballarat Miners in Wendouree in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
