Top ranked Fenerbahce (22-4) recorded its fourth loss in Istanbul on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by eighth ranked Banvit (14-13) 78-70. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Fenerbahce. They outrebounded Fenerbahce 44-31 including a 34-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Banvit looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was American center Jordan Morgan (203-91, college: Michigan) who had a double-double by scoring 23 points and 14 rebounds. His fellow American import forward DJ Shelton (208-91, college: WSU) chipped in 18 points and 8 rebounds. Italian Nicolo Melli (205-91) produced 18 points and 8 rebounds and Greek point guard Konstantinos Sloukas (197-90) added 13 points and 4 assists respectively for the hosts. Banvit have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain eighth place with 14-13 record. Defending champion Fenerbahce dropped to the second position with four games lost. Banvit are looking forward to face higher ranked Turk Telekom (#7) in Ankara in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Fenerbahce will play on the road against Sakarya BSB (#15) and is hoping to win this game.
