A very close game took place in Weissenfels between Mitteldeutscher BC and Braunschweig. Fifteenth ranked Mitteldeutscher BC (9-23) got a very close home victory over higher ranked Braunschweig (15-17). Mitteldeutscher BC managed to escape with a 3-point win 84-81 on Saturday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. The winners were led by American swingman Tremmell Darden (194-81, college: Niagara) who scored that evening 26 points and 9 rebounds and the other American import forward James Farr (208-92, college: Xavier) supported him with 13 points and 9 rebounds. Four Mitteldeutscher BC players scored in double figures. Even 25 points and 7 rebounds by American power forward Scott Eatherton (206-91, college: Northeastern, agency: BeoBasket) did not help to save the game for Braunschweig. Austrian point guard Thomas Klepeisz (186-91) added 11 points and 6 assists for the guests. Mitteldeutscher BC moved-up to fourteenth place, which they share with Goettingen. Braunschweig lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the tenth position with 17 games lost. They share it with Fraport SKY. Mitteldeutscher BC will meet league's second-placed EWE Baskets in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Braunschweig will play against Deutsche Bank Skyliners (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
