Cremona rallied past Trieste in the opener. Vanoli Cremona forced 19 Alma TR turnovers. Australian-South Sudanese power forward Mangok Mathiang (208-92, college: Louisville) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 18 rebounds for the winners and American swingman Wesley Saunders (196-93, college: Harvard) chipped in 14 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Vanoli Cremona players scored in double figures. At the losing side Slovenian swingman Zoran Dragic (196-89) responded with 16 points and 6 rebounds and forward Matteo Da-Ros (204-89) scored 10 points and 8 rebounds. Alma TR's coach Eugenio Dalmasson tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game.
