Regular Season Round 1: Mineros - Lenadores 93-95

An interesting game where Lenadores (1-0) edged by two points Mineros (0-1) 95-93 on Thursday night. Mineros were very close to get their first win. But it seems they have to wait a little bit longer. Lenadores made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 Mineros turnovers. Strangely Mineros outrebounded Lenadores 45-32 including a 36-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. American-Puerto Rican Javier Mojica (190-84, college: CCSU, agency: Paris Global Sports) stepped up and scored 21 points, 5 assists and 4 steals for the winners and American guard Aaron Valdes (196-93, college: Hawaii, agency: Pro Sports) chipped in 22 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Four Lenadores players scored in double figures. At the losing side Puerto Rican forward Gilberto Clavell (200-89, college: SHSU) responded with 26 points and 8 rebounds (made all of his nine free throws !!!) and American-Puerto Rican point guard Denis Clemente (183-86, college: Kansas St.) produced a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 assists. Lenadores will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Mineros will play again against Lenadores (#3) and hope to win that game.
