The most surprising game was another loss of top-ranked Reales LV (7-3) in La Romana on Friday night. Visitors were edged by fifth ranked Caneros Del Este (5-5) 88-85. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Caneros Del Este made 10 blocks. Jaison Colome scored 22 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and American forward Branden Dawson (198-93, college: Michigan St.) chipped in 21 points, 8 rebounds and 5 blocks during the contest. Five Caneros Del Este players scored in double figures. At the losing side American forward Shane Henry (203, college: Virginia Tech) responded with 16 points and 6 rebounds and his fellow American import swingman A.J. Davis (206-95, college: UCF) scored 12 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Caneros Del Este moved-up to second place, which they share with 3 other teams. Reales LV lost third consecutive game. Defending champion still keeps top position with three games lost. Caneros Del Este is looking forward to face Leones SD (#5) in Santo Domingo in the next round. Reales LV will play at home against Soles SD (#4) and is hoping to win this game.
