Regular Season Round 4: Giessen - Idstein 76-53

There was a surprise result when eighth ranked Giessen Pointers (2-3) outplayed at home much higher ranked Idstein (4-1) 76-53 on Saturday. They outrebounded Idstein 43-31 including 36 on the defensive glass. Quite impressive performance for American forward Tyrell Sturdivant (201-95, college: Stony Brook) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 14 points and 19 rebounds. Point guard Lucas Mayer (183-99) contributed with 12 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. American guard Julian DeBose (193-92, college: FGCU) replied with 10 points and 5 assists and Austrian-Croatian point guard Matej Kljaic (178-93) added 11 points in the effort for Idstein. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Giessen Pointers maintains eighth position in South-West with 2-3 record, which they share with Mannheim and Kaiserslautern. Newly promoted Idstein keeps the second place with one game lost. Giessen Pointers will face Stuttgart (#13) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Idstein will play against TV Langen (#6) and hope to win that game.
