Regular Season Round 3: Gargzdu - Vytis 101-99

A very interesting game took place in Gargzdai. It ended with only two-point defeat on the road of Vytis (1-2) to Gargzdu (2-0) 101-99 on Thursday evening. Host team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. Gargzdu players were unselfish on offense dishing 31 assists. It was an exceptional evening for guard Ernestas Jonkus (187-99) who led the winners and scored 22 points, 9 rebounds, 9 assists and 4 steals. Laurynas Mikalauskas (205-85, college: Virginia) accounted for 13 points, 13 rebounds and 8 assists for the winning side. Guard Domantas Vilys (188-0) came up with 25 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals and power forward Rokas Stankevicius (202-95) added 27 points and 5 assists respectively for Vytis in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Gargzdu's next round opponent will be Suduva-Mantinga (#3) in Marijampole, which may be the game of the day. Vytis will play at home against Neptunas-Akv. (#5) and hope to win that game.
