Regular Season Round 2: Grindavik - Keflavik 89-97

Date: October 10, 2019
No shocking result in a game when Keflavik (2-0) beat on the road Grindavik (0-2) 97-89. It looked good early as Grindavik took a 2-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Keflavik had a 23-14 second period charge getting the lead and Grindavik was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 89-97. Keflavik dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Grindavik's 26. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists. Keflavik brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. Lithuanian center Dominykas Milka (203-92, college: St.Rose, NY) scored 26 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the charge for the winners and British forward Deane Williams (203-96) chipped in 23 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) during the contest. The former international guard Olafur Olafsson (194-90) responded with 16 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists and international guard Dagur Jonsson (185-95, college: St.Francis, NY) scored 20 points and 5 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Keflavik will play against Njardvik (#8) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Grindavik will play against Haukar in Hafnarfjordur and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
