Very predictable result when Rivne (2-0) defeated at home Zhytomyr (0-2) 73-63 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Rivne. Zhytomyr was better in second period 20-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Zhytomyr to just 4 points in first quarter. Rivne dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Zhytomyr's 28. Rivne forced 19 Zhytomyr turnovers. Forward Oleksandr Shepelev (201-94) scored 20 points and 8 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Dmytro Tymoshchuk chipped in 8 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Swingman Yevgen Bolotsenko (195-95) responded with 14 points and Oleksandr Rykhliuk scored 10 points and 9 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Rivne will face Ch.Mavpy 2 (#7) in Cherkasy in the next round where they are favorite. Zhytomyr will play at home against Politekhn.Lvov and hope to win that game.
