Regular Season Round 5: Akita NH - Alvark T. 65-60

The most surprising game was the first loss of undefeated Toyota Alvark (2-1) on the court of sixth ranked Akita Happinets on Wednesday night. Visitors were defeated by Akita Happinets 65-60. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Toyota Alvark. Bahamas power forward Kadeem Coleby (206-89, college: Wichita St., agency: HMS) stepped up and scored 14 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and the former international swingman Takatoshi Furukawa (190-87) chipped in 13 points. Coleby is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Akita Happinets' coach Kenjiro Maeda used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American center Alex Kirk (211-91, college: N.Mexico, agency: Pensack Sports) responded with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds and the former international Daiki Tanaka (191-91) scored 11 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Toyota Alvark players scored in double figures. Akita Happinets (2-2) moved-up to third place, which they share with 3 other teams. Defending champion Toyota Alvark dropped to the fourth position with one game lost. Akita Happinets is looking forward to face Ryukyu GK (#4) in Okinawa in the next round. Toyota Alvark will play at home against the league's leader Kyoto H. and is hoping to win this game.
