Regular Season Round 1: TSU - Batumi 92-90

A very close game took place in Tbilisi (derby !!!) between TSU and Batumi. TSU (1-0) got a very close home victory over Batumi (0-1). TSU managed to escape with a 2-point win 92-90 on Wednesday evening. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 33-29. But Batumi won second period 20-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. TSU looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. International power forward Giorgi Turdziladze (210-97) stepped up and scored 35 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds for the winners and international power forward Giorgi Korsantia (207-98) chipped in 11 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists. TSU's coach Leqso Lapanashvili used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side Serbian center Nikola Vujovic (210-93) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds and American forward Collin Malcolm (201-97, college: Warner Pacific) scored 24 points and 6 rebounds. Four TSU and five Batumi players scored in double figures. TSU's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tbilisi to the arena Mgzavrebi.
