Everything could happen in Thessaloniki at the game between two tied teams. Both eighth ranked Ionikos Nikaias and 10th ranked Aris had identical 1-2 record. But Aris was not able to use a home court advantage and was defeated by the opponent from Nikaias 77-72 on Saturday night. The guests trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 34-28 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Ukrainian-American guard Steven Burtt (189-84, college: Iona) fired 24 points for the winners. The former international center Loukas Mavrokefalidis (207-84, agency: Network Sports International) chipped in 16 points and 8 rebounds. Ionikos Nikaias' coach Nikos Vetoulas used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Montenegrin forward Vladimir Dragicevic (206-86) produced 17 points and 5 rebounds and American point guard Gary Talton (185-90, college: UIC) added 16 points and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Ionikos Nikaias (2-2) moved-up to seventh place. Aris lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth position with three games lost. Ionikos Nikaias will have a break next round.
