Regular Season Round 6: Delikatesas - Jonava 81-83

A very interesting game took place in Joniskis. It ended with only two-point home defeat of 11th ranked Delikatesas (1-5) to tenth ranked Jonava (2-3) 83-81 on Saturday evening. Strangely Delikatesas outrebounded Jonava 32-20 including 22 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. American forward Kahlil Thomas (203-94, college: Rider) notched 17 points and 9 rebounds to lead the effort and the other American import forward Ian Gardener (195-96, college: Dominican, NY) supported him with 19 points and 4 assists. Gardener is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Even a double-double of 17 points and 12 rebounds by Giedrius Stankevicius (207-96) did not help to save the game for Delikatesas. Mantvydas Zukauskas (193-98) added 11 points and 6 assists. Five Jonava and four Delikatesas players scored in double figures. Jonava moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Ereliai Mazeikiai and Gargzdu. Delikatesas lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the twelfth position with five games lost. Jonava's next round opponent will be league's second-placed Suduva-Mantinga in Marijampole and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Delikatesas will play at home against Ereliai Mazeikiai (#8) and hope to win that game.
