Regular Season Round 5: Elchingen - Baunach 59-68

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both second ranked Baunach and 3rd placed Elchingen had identical 3-1 record. But Elchingen was not able to use a home court advantage and lost to the opponent from Baunach 68-59 on Saturday night. It was a key game for the top position in South. Baunach forced 20 Elchingen turnovers. Elchingen was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. Brandon Tischler (198-0) stepped up and scored 13 points and 6 rebounds for the winners and naturalized Croatian Mateo Seric (204-99) chipped in 13 points and 6 rebounds. Four Baunach players scored in double figures. American power forward Lamar Mallory (201-90, college: Glenville St.) responded with 17 points and 9 rebounds and the other American import forward CJ Oldham (203-91, college: Gannon) scored 16 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Baunach have a solid series of four victories in a row. They keep a position of South leader, which they share with Speyer and Wuerzburg. Loser Elchingen dropped to the fourth place with two games lost. Baunach will face FC Bayern II (#7) in Muenchen in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Elchingen will play on the road against Fraport Skyliners II in Frankfurt and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
