Regular Season Round 5: Rimini - Aurora JE 84-85

There was a surprise result when eleventh ranked Aurora JE (3-2) edged on the road higher ranked Rimini (2-2) 85-84 on Sunday. Aurora JE made 21-of-24 free shots (87.5 percent) during the game. Strangely Rimini outrebounded Aurora JE 37-25 including 26 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was Riccardo Casagrande (196-88) who scored 15 points and 9 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Point guard Riccardo Bottioni (192-93) chipped in 12 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. Five Aurora JE players scored in double figures. Swingman Luca Bedetti (193-89, agency: Interperformances) produced 22 points and 5 rebounds and forward Francesco Bedetti (195-93, agency: Interperformances) added 17 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Rimini's coach Massimo Bernardi tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Aurora JE moved-up to sixth place in B, which they share with Vigevano. Newly promoted Rimini dropped to the eighth position with two games lost. Aurora JE will face higher ranked Civitanova (#3) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Rimini will play against Ozzano (#5) in Ozzano dell Emilia and hope to win that game.
