Regular Season Round 9: Ryukyu GK - San-en NP 74-59

Rather predictable result in Okinawa where fourth ranked Ryukyu GK (5-3) beat bottom-ranked San-en NeoPhoenix (0-9) 74-59 on Saturday. They outrebounded San-en NeoPhoenix 41-28 including 26 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American power forward Jack Cooley (206-91, college: Notre Dame, agency: Pensack Sports) who had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds. The former international forward Yuki Mitsuhara (198-89) chipped in 15 points and 7 rebounds. Four Ryukyu GK players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American center Kyle Barone (203-89, college: Idaho) who recorded a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds and the other American import center Jessie Govan (185-97, college: Georgetown) added 13 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Ryukyu GK have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Osaka E. Loser San-en NeoPhoenix still closes the standings with nine games lost. Ryukyu GK will face again San-en NeoPhoenix (#6) in Hamamatsu in the next round.
