Regular Season Round 6: Ostrava - Opava 2010 94-93

The most exciting game of round 6 in the 1Liga took place in Ostrava. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 8th ranked Opava 2010 (1-5) to sixth ranked Ostrava (3-3) 94-93 on Sunday evening. Ostrava forced 24 Opava 2010 turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was point guard Jan Stehlik (185-86) who had a double-double by scoring 24 points, 5 rebounds, 10 assists and 4 steals. Dominik Lukac (190-0) chipped in 22 points and 5 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was power forward Jiri Dihel (198-89) who recorded 37 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds and Viktor Cvek (200-89) added 19 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Ostrava moved-up to fifth place in East, which they share with Vysocina. Opava 2010 lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the ninth position with five games lost. They share it with Novy Jicin and Pardubice. Ostrava is looking forward to face Pardubice (#10) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Opava 2010 will play against Novy Jicin and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
