Regular Season Round 6: Roanne - ASVEL 65-85

Round 6 ended with 3 & very close games. The first one was a victory of ASVEL over 5th ranked Roanne 85-65 on Sunday night. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Roanne. ASVEL shot 26 for 37 from the free-throw line, while Roanne only scored seven points from the stripe. ASVEL forced 22 Roanne turnovers and outrebounded them 39-26 including 24 on the defensive glass. 29 personal fouls committed by Roanne helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for swingman Junior Ouattara (190-0) who led his team to a victory with 20 points and 7 rebounds. Forward Felix Bastien (190-1) contributed with 13 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Five ASVEL players scored in double figures. Forward Arthur Bruyas (195-0) replied with 23 points and guard Gaetan Meyniel (183-0) added 8 points and 9 assists in the effort for Roanne. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. ASVEL maintains eighth position with 4-3 record. Roanne at the other side keeps the fifth place with two games lost. They share the position with Pau-Lacq-Orthez and Chalon. ASVEL are looking forward to face higher ranked Chalon (#5) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Roanne will play against Levallois and is hoping to win this game.
