Regular Season Round 10: Chiba J. - Shimane SM 101-63

There was a small surprise when sixth ranked Chiba J. (5-5) rolled over at home their close opponent Shimane Magic (2-8) 101-63 on Sunday. Chiba J. dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Shimane Magic's 26. They outrebounded Shimane Magic 50-24 including a 45-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Chiba J. looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Quite impressive performance for American power forward Gavin Edwards (206-88, college: Connecticut) who helped to win the game recording 25 points and 6 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field). The other American import power forward Josh Duncan (203-86) contributed with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Four Chiba J. players scored in double figures. Chiba J.'s coach Atsushi Ono felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. American forward Robert Carter (206-94, college: Maryland) replied with 25 points and 9 rebounds and guard Hiromu Kitagawa (182-91) added 8 points and 6 assists in the effort for Shimane Magic. Chiba J. have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain sixth position with 5-5 record. Newly promoted Shimane Magic dropped to the fifth place with eight games lost. Chiba J. will face league's second-placed Kyoto H. at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Shimane Magic will play against the league's leader Toshiba Thunders and hope to win that game.
