Regular Season Round 9: Vytis - Delikatesas 82-81

A very interesting game took place in Sakiai. It ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 9th ranked Delikatesas (3-6) to eleventh ranked Vytis (4-5) 82-81 on Thursday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Delikatesas. Strangely Delikatesas outrebounded Vytis 34-22 including 27 on the defensive glass. Power forward Rokas Stankevicius (202-95) nailed 23 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winning side and guard Karolis Kokoska (196-92) accounted for 21 points. Guard Aistis Pilauskas (188-98) came up with 8 points, 6 rebounds, 9 assists and 5 steals and Airidas Giedraitis (197-95) added 13 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Delikatesas in the defeat. Delikatesas' coach Robertas Giedraitis rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Vytis have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to eighth place. Delikatesas at the other side dropped to the eleventh position with six games lost. Vytis' next round opponent will be higher ranked Zalgiris II (#7) in Kaunas and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Delikatesas will play at home against the league's leader Suduva-Mantinga (#1) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
