Regular Season Round 7: Svitavy - Usti n/Labem 78-67

Rather expected game when 7th ranked Usti n/Labem (3-4) was defeated on the road by fifth ranked Svitavy (5-2) 78-67 on Saturday. Svitavy outrebounded Usti n/Labem 42-27 including 33 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a great evening for power forward Lubos Kovar (203-0) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds. American forward Sean OBrien (198-94, college: SIU) helped adding 11 points and 12 rebounds. Four Svitavy players scored in double figures. At the losing side the former international center Pavel Houska (203-84, agency: Octagon Europe) responded with 17 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and point guard Michal Sotnar (187-92) scored 10 points and 8 assists. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Svitavy. They moved-up to third place, which they share with BK Pardubice. Usti n/Labem lost their fourth game in a row. They dropped to the eighth position with four games lost. Svitavy will face USK Praha (#7) at home in the next round. Usti n/Labem will play against BK Kolin and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
