Regular Season Round 7: Alicante - Almansa 83-82

A very interesting game took place in Alicante. It ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 16th ranked Almansa (1-6) to seventh ranked HLA Alicante (4-3) 83-82 on Saturday evening. Host team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. HLA Alicante outrebounded Almansa 38-26 including 26 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Justin Pitts (178-94, college: NW Missouri St., agency: Duran International) who helped to win the game recording 18 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Senegalese center Bamba Fall (217-86, college: SMU, agency: Players Group) contributed with 18 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners. Portuguese point guard Miguel Cardoso (188-93) answered with 21 points and British forward Rowell Graham (197-94) added 12 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Almansa. Four HLA Alicante and five Almansa players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. HLA Alicante moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 4 other teams. Almansa at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the sixteenth position with six games lost. HLA Alicante's next round opponent will be Castello (#12) in Castellon and are hoping to win another game. Almansa will play at home against the league's second-placed Carramimbre (#2) and hope to win that game.
