Regular Season Round 8: Zamorano - Gijon 100-82

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both seventh ranked Zamorano and 8th ranked Gijon had identical 3-4 record. This time Zamorano used a home court advantage and defeated the opponent from Gijon 100-82 on Saturday night. It was a great shooting night for Zamorano especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.6 percentage. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Ryan Nicholas (201-91, college: Portland) who helped to win the game recording 27 points and 5 rebounds and the other American import guard Bryce Canda (193-95, college: Portland St.) who added 23 points and 4 assists during the contest. Canda is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Zamorano players scored in double figures. Jamaican-Canadian guard Jamal Reynolds (193, college: Canisius) responded with 21 points and 9 rebounds and Nigerian-American guard Rob Ukawuba (191-94, college: NJIT) scored 20 points. Gijon's coach rotated eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Zamorano (4-4) moved-up to sixth place in Silver. Loser Gijon dropped to the ninth position with five games lost. Zamorano will face Ponferrada CDP (#11) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Gijon will play against Estela and hope to win that game.
